Three minutes after ten is the time.

The breaking news, as you just heard in your news bulletin,

is that the Secretary of Iran's

intelligence services, their key security chief, has, according to reports from Israel, being

removed from the map, being killed in this probably illegal war. He was also Iran's chief

nuclear negotiator between 2005 and 2007. More on that as and when it emerges.

But we find ourselves once again contemplating, well, what do you do if there's only one

story in town?

It's happened a surprising amount of times in the last few years.

Prior to, you're probably going to correct me on this,

but prior to 2016, I don't remember it happening at all. Every day there would be two or three

things vying for our attention at an absolute minimum. But during COVID, certainly, and during

Brexit, you just felt that it would be inappropriate to talk about anything else. This is just

me, by the way. It's not in any way a criticism, veiled or otherwise, of other people. Criticisms

would involve talking about absolute rubbish to avoid acknowledging how wrong you were

about the big stuff going on in the world. That criticisms there, galore, neither veiled or unveiled, whatever you prefer.

But it is, I mean, you can't have a news bulletin, for example, that's only got one story in it, can you?

It would be weird, except when there is something like COVID in its very early days or indeed a war in its very early days.
