that occur out of sight in the vast unchartered waters of the open seas, too far away for us to see anything.

These disasters typically involve shipwrecks or naval collisions

resulting from human error, technical failures or of course natural forces.

The sinking of iconic vessels like the Titanic and the Bismarck

highlight the dramatic and often preventable nature

of these incidents.

Additionally, naval disasters bring to mind significant

environmental impacts such as oil spills and marine pollution which can have

long-lasting detrimental effects on ecosystems. The human stories of heroism, panic and

survival, coupled with the technical and procedural failures that lead to such

tragedies are central to our understanding and remembrance of these catastrophic events.
