Hello, once again, my brothers and my sisters, my friends.

I am here to help you get your mind aligned with the truth of God's Word today.

And we're looking at the Book of Proverbs chapter 12, and today we're going to take two

verses that are close by in terms of their address within the chapter, but they're not

exactly sequential.

We're going to look at verses 24 and 27 because they speak to the same issue.

Verse 24 says, the hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to

forced labor.

Verse 27 says, whoever is slothful will not roast his game.

But the diligent man will get precious wealth.

Now as you can see, we're dealing with two different terms in both of these verses,

the term diligent and the term slothful.

Now slothful is a word we don't use much, but it means lazy.

A person who's slothful just think of a sloth, you know, that creature we see that's

very slow and very methodical in the way that it moves.

It appears to be lazy, even though it's just the way that the creature moves.

Well, that's where the word slothful comes from, and it means lazy.

So Solomon is contrasting two different types of behavior, two different attitudes, two

different ways of going about life that you and I need to consider.

Now first he says two things about the diligent.
