you decided already it's just too hard to read the Bible on a regular basis. But is there a way to approach your time

with God and your time in His Word as a get-to and not an ought-to or should-do? Well, the answer is

absolutely yes. It is possible for your time with God and your time in His Word to be the most

important part of your day where you can't wait to get there. You show up expectant.

You show up with your ear bent towards heaven, your heart receptive to what God might want to say.

It's not an ought to or should do or a task. You've got to check off your list where you just sort of

go through the motions. In fact, if you approach it in that way at all, you miss everything

that God wants to say to you. Maybe you've heard me say this before, but whenever my spiritual disciplines, as important as they are, whenever any of them become ought to's or should do's, for me, it's because I've lost sight of the love of God. You know, it's not that we loved God, it's that he loved us. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. It's not how high we can jump.

It's that he stooped down to make us great. That's what scripture says. He loved us first,

and he keeps loving us first. And when you move towards God, when you make space for him, when you
