| 0:56.8 | just being just peaceful and have, you know, and happy ever after. A more valuable way of understanding mindfulness |
| 1:06.6 | practice is that we are actually learning how to be present in an effective way in a wholesome way with the challenges that life brings that |
| 1:18.2 | they always bring and so one of the ways to do that is to understand the unhelpful ways in which we respond to challenges. |
| 1:28.0 | And the five hindrances are such things. |
| 1:31.0 | So sometimes we respond with uncertainty and confusion and running around not being able |
| 1:37.6 | to make decisions. Sometimes we respond with agitation, restlessness, maybe with regrets and remorse about who we are, what's happening, how we're showing up, what happened in the past. |
| 1:58.0 | Sometimes we are, which is the topic for today, is that somehow we freeze up, we shut down, we go to sleep in some |
| 2:09.2 | way, so we're not having to deal with the challenges that come. |
| 2:14.0 | And then for the next two days, next day is sometimes we respond with hostility, |
| 2:19.3 | with aversion, ill will, with blame, with complaining, with hostility. |
| 2:26.8 | And then finally, on Friday, |
| 2:28.8 | we respond with desires of different types, |
| 2:34.0 | essential desires, avaricious desires, |
| 2:37.0 | desires of greed. |
| 2:39.0 | We want something to fill us, |
