This week I'm joined by my dear, dear friend,

Rani Agogo.

You might remember her from season 5 episode 10, miracles.

She works with many different deities, but today she'll tell us all about Papa Legba, the Voodoo

deity of communication and crossroads. She talks about her relationship to Papa Legba,

miraculous ways that he's assisted her, concerns about appropriation,

an insight on how to build meaningful relationships with deities.

And just like last time, I did not censor Rani's colorful language.

I work with a wide range of deities, and that's because I work with deities who come to me.

I have a pretty interesting story because I was actually initiated by spirit.

So one of the deities that I work with who actually saved my life is Papa Legba.

Papa Legba is actually one of my main patron deities.

Actually, his altar is like right here.

So I wasn't planning on working with Papa Legba.

Actually, he's one who came to me during a very dark moment in my life, and it was the beginning of my spiritual initiations.

Yeah, he chose me. I didn't know who the fuck he was actually. He was actually for the first couple of weeks I was calling him this spirit called daddy and I was actually really scared of this entity,

even though there was like this presence that I very much respected.
