Titus chapter 3, verse 8.

The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things,

so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works.

These things are excellent and profitable for people.

What a great exhortation that we who have believed in God may be careful. So to be really careful,

intentional today, to devote ourselves to good works, to things that are excellent and profitable for people. And it's interesting right after this, Paul talks about

foolish controversies and dissensions and quarrels that are unprofitable and worthless and all the danger that comes with people who stir up

division. And so Paul is saying, don't do that. Instead, be careful. When I hear that language, be

careful. I just think about how, okay, this means we need to be really intentional because our

propensity is to engage in foolish controversies

and dissensions and quarrels that are unprofitable and worthless and to stir up division.

Like that's our tendency.

So we need to be careful not to do that and be really intentional to devote ourselves to good works. And even that language

comes up at the very end of Titus chapter 3 when one of the last thing Paul says, he says,

let our people learn to devote themselves to good works so as to help cases of urgent need

and not be unfruitful.

So I just want to encourage you today and lead us to pray today in light of Titus

chapter 3, verse 8, and verse 14, that we would be careful to do good works today,

to do things that are excellent and profitable for people, particularly in cases of urgent need and to be fruitful

in our lives today through good works. So God, we pray for that to be a reality in our lives

today. We pray that you'd help each of us to be careful, to avoid unprofitable, worthless
