And it helps us think about the law of Deuteronomy. These aren't kind of dry, dusty documents of, you know, merely case law for civil courts.

0:12.7

The law is teaching the people of God how to live in the world that God created, right?

0:17.6

He's teaching them how to live according to the grain of the world.

0:20.9

And it's the application of God's law to every area of life, which causes them to walk in

Welcome to episode 55 of Bible Talk, a podcast brought to you by Nine Marks. Nine Marks

exists to help pastors build healthy churches for more. You can visit Nine Marks.org. My name is

0:44.6

Alex Duke, and with me are my two friends, Sam Amati, Jim Hamilton. Now, guys, last week we kicked off

1:28.2

the look forward that we have in 31 to 34. Then in chapters 4 to 11, you have motivation to obey the

1:35.3

covenant. And then in 27 to 30, you have a covenant ceremony. And then at the center of Deuteronomy,

1:40.5

12 to 26, you have covenant stipulations. With chapter four comes the beginning of this

1:44.5

new section on motivation to obey the covenant. I wanted to bring up an illustration that I was

1:50.0

looking at in my notes from when I was a student under Dr. Hamilton, and he used this illustration

1:55.1

about Deuteronomy that I think is... Is that Dr. Jim Hamilton?
