Thank you so much to the Sarasota Police Department for 35 years investigating and coming to the conclusion, finding that Mr. Magalletti was the perpetrator.

Regardless of how old these cases are,

or regardless if the person who did it is alive, incarcerated, or dead,

the answers are in the books, and if we put forth the effort and apply today's science,

we've got a chance to make a difference.

It's been almost 36 years since a young mother was killed in her home in Sarasota, Florida.

And police say they've identified the man responsible.

I'm joined by Adoria Chumba in Tampa, Florida.

And Adora, tell us what we know about Denise Stafford, the victim in this case.

So we know Denise Marie Stafford was a 28-year-old woman. She was a new mother. She just had a daughter

who was around the age of one. We don't know exactly how old the child is, or at least we weren't

informed at the time. But we do know that the child

was in the house, in another room, asleep in her crib when this tragedy occurred.

Adoria, let's talk about what we know about that day in 1985. What do we know about her murder,

how she was killed, and what sort of leads, if anything, investigators had early on?
