Summary

In this podcast, we begin with the reminder that success is becoming the person God has called us to become and doing what God calls us to do. In other words, detaching from the outcomes and circumstances we want, and surrendering to God and his will, is success -- regardless of where that takes us.

Hi, my name is Pete Scazzaro. I want to welcome you today to the Emotionally Healthy Leader Podcast.

And today's a part two entitled Detachment, How God Births New Things in and Through You, How God Births New Things in and Through You Detachment.

0:15.0

So I mentioned last week that detachment is a key to dismantling our false selves. And I've been asked, you know,

0:22.3

what does it mean to live out of your true self in Christ? So let me just begin with a few

0:26.4

qualities of what it looks like to live out of our true self in Jesus out of which we give

0:31.1

a gift to the world. It means being deeply convinced that I'm loved by God and I don't

inter-directed adult under Christ. And I'm deeply in tune as well with myself and what's going on internally.

0:58.0

I'm genuinely concerned about the glory of God, not my own.

1:02.0

I'm a presence in the world that, as a result, not anxious.

1:06.0

I'm not reactive or easily triggered.

1:08.0

I'm deeply aware of who I am and who I'm not, much like John the

1:12.5

Baptist. I'm respectful of authority around me, yet I'm able to speak clearly and respectfully and

1:18.0

honestly on my own behalf. And I'm able to draw on past successes and apply them to present

1:24.9

mountains and challenges in front of me. And so we, you know, living out of our true selves in Christ means I've really redefined

1:32.9

success away from the world's definition.

1:34.9

And I define successes then radically doing God's will.

1:39.6

And have you ever considered that your ministry or team or organization may actually be growing, and yet

1:46.4

you're actually failing? Because, again, success is not numerically growing externally. It's actually

1:53.4

radically doing God's will. And we see this in scripture repeatedly, people like John the
