We need to talk about the politics of desire.

This is not going to be a very fun, ooh, episode because this is serious things, guys.

Desire is political.

Do we know what that phrase means?

Does that phrase mean anything to you at all? Because when I say desire is political, what that

means is who you are attracted to is political. Now on the surface, hearing that phrase, it sounds

extremely serious, doesn't it? It sounds like we are all mechanically engaging

with each other. What about love? What about just finding someone attractive? What about things

happening by chance? You can't say those are political.

Let me tell you why desire is political.

Now, to dive into this, I'm going to pull from experiences that happen around me that really potently prove that desire is political.

Let's talk about black men.

Let's talk about black men. Let's talk about black men who are rappers or who work in the entertainment industry, which also includes rappers. What's interesting about those black men is that

they almost always either have a light-skinned, in brackets, mixed-race girlfriend or a white

girlfriend.

Now, on the surface, there's nothing wrong with that.

People love who they love.

Attraction is attraction.

People are attractive.

So people will be attracted to each other, right right i think we can all agree on that now

where the politics of desire come into play here is when you think about status and you think about a man's ego

when a man is in the period of his life where he's experiencing success, he selects women who make him look good.
