Recently, as in the last two days or so, here at the epic homestead, we cleared out the

entire curb strip on my property.

Well, not really my property, I believe that it is maintained and owned by the city or

there's supposed to be, but it turns out that most of us homeowners tend to manage it

in some way.

So I cleared it out.

It's basically just bear dirt in one palm tree right now.

And now I know that we have chatted a little bit about water-wise garden, succulent gardens,

all sorts of different topics here.

It's kind of an interesting opportunity now to design a garden bed from scratch with

different initial conditions, like I'm not trying to grow lettuce and the curb strip,

for example.

I kind of want something that's beautiful, makes the house look good, maybe has some

great benefits for pollinators, and that's kind of it, somewhat lower maintenance.

So I'm curious how you think about designing a situation like this.

What was in that space before?

So there was a struggling Jacaranda as sort of a landscape plant that I think is just

put on my street.

There was a hibiscus with white fly all over it, and then there were two large lantana

bushes.
