On Labor Day, while most of us were enjoying a barbecue,

or just taking it easy with friends and family,

U.S. District Court Judge Eileen Cannon was handing down her ill-conceived ruling,

granting Trump a special master in the case of 11,000 government documents, I mean hundreds,

that were highly classified, that he stole from the U.S. government. And then she went to party

with her peeps over at Mar-a-Lago.

Okay, that part's not true.

But what is clear is that Judge Cannon is giving Trump the friends and family treatment.

And Trump is eating it up.

But what the judge did here is say, okay, there's maybe some small fraction of these 11,000 documents that might

potentially have a privilege claim. So I'm going to allow the special master to review all 11,000

documents, including even the ones in the photo that we saw labeled top secret. I don't think

that they're attorney client. And they're certainly not executive privilege protected, and she says the special

master will decide all of that, and until that special master decides all of it, which may take

months or years, the federal government can't use any of these materials in its criminal

investigation of Donald Trump. That is, to put it mildly insane. The term special master is unfortunate.

I mean, for God's sakes, it sounds sort of like a bondage flick

that they played at the old time square.
