and I am going to tell you about why that is so significant and special in just a bit. But first,

I do want to report to long-time listeners. I'm not going to take a lot of time to do like a major check-in

like I sometimes do. I don't want to get between you and today's conversation. However,

if you have been listening in, then you know some weeks back when things were looking at their

most bleak for me, I, in a desperate rampage,

applied for every potential pandemic assistance that I might qualify for. And over the last few

weeks, I've been talking about that and really feeling very cynical about it

and not having faith in our institutions that they would help me at all.

And then this week, two out of the three things that I applied for went through.

So I was approved and funded for a PPP loan.

And then I also got processed for the unemployment assistance for gig workers that they legislated.

And it's been huge.

I mean, that loan, it made up for the losses over the last several months.

And then now the unemployment assistance is some money coming in through the end of the year.

And of course, now that I've gotten that assistance, I feel guilty about it.

Like there's lots of other people who probably need help more than me, who aren't getting help.
