| 0:00.0 | Here's a look at what we'll have for you on this Monday. The Senate went blue over the weekend. Democrats will be in control of the U.S. Senate for another two years. |
| 0:24.0 | That comes as the House is still up in the air with a number of races too close to call and former President Trump gets set to announce his latest run for President tomorrow. |
| 0:34.0 | We'll have the latest on the story of FTX, the crypto exchange that was worth $33 billion or this month and is now worth zero. |
| 0:42.0 | Ukrainians are celebrating the departure of the Russian military from one of their major cities. |
| 0:47.0 | There are some wedding bells for a couple presidential family members I'll tell you about and the Black Panther sequel has made a huge splash at the box office this weekend. |
| 0:57.0 | Let's start with the latest political news. We're nearly a week from midterms and we're starting to finally get a better sense of who will control the next Congress. |
| 1:05.0 | The weekend we learned that Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto successfully defended her seat for a second term. That means Democrats will hold at least 50 seats in the U.S. Senate. Republicans currently have 49. |
| 1:17.0 | That means that Democrats will control the U.S. Senate for another two years at least and that is even without the Georgia runoff set for next month since Democrats only need 50 seats even in a 50-50 Senate because they have Vice President Harris as a tiebreaker for the next couple of years. |
| 1:33.0 | Democratic leaders celebrated over the weekend. It is a pretty significant thing to be able to hold the U.S. Senate and as I mentioned that comes without that key Georgia seat. |
| 1:42.0 | That runoff is set for December 6th. Democratic Senator Rafael Warnock is defending his seat against Republican Herschel Walker and the big question there will be who is incentivized to turn out with control of the Senate already locked. |
| 1:54.0 | Republicans will try to convince their voters to come out saying that 50-50 is still significant that having another Republican in the Senate is important. |
| 2:02.0 | At the same time Democrats will try to convince their voters in Georgia that 51 seats actually matters more than 50 seats. It will mean less influence for folks like Joe Manchin. |
| 2:11.0 | It will also mean that Democrats don't have to be unified with all 50 senators on every issue including perfect attendance directly where a number of cases in the past two years where a Democrat was out or not available for a vote which meant because things are 50-50 they couldn't hold those votes. |
| 2:26.0 | So 51 gives them a little extra room. It also gives them more power and committees. They don't have to share responsibility with Republicans. They can more efficiently pass things and that's the case Democrats will be making over the course of the next couple of weeks in Georgia. |
| 2:37.0 | Keeping the Senate was considered a challenge though it was a slightly easier task than the House. Back in 2018 you might remember that Republicans were able to actually pick up seats in the Senate that came as Democrats actually gained 40 seats in the House that cycle. |
| 2:50.0 | So what does it mean that Democrats held the Senate? Well it makes Joe Biden's job a little easier for the next two years in terms of approving judges. That's a responsibility of the U.S. Senate. |
| 2:59.0 | So far Biden's been at a pretty brisk pace in terms of getting his judges through. He is at 84 judges in his first two years or just under his first two years which beats the pace of Obama, Bush 43, Bush 41 and Reagan. It's pretty much on par with what Trump was doing in his first two years. |
| 3:15.0 | So this now means that Biden will be able to continue to push through judges at the circuit appellate and if an opening is on the Supreme Court push one through there. |
| 3:23.0 | It also means that Biden will have an easier time pushing through executive branch nominees say he needs to replace a Treasury Secretary or someone is cabinet. |
| 3:31.0 | It also means that he won't have to deal with many investigations from the U.S. Senate at least. Senator Ron Johnson the Republican from Wisconsin for instance was referring a high profile hearing about 100 Biden. |
| 3:41.0 | Other Republicans were looking to look into Afghanistan. That will not happen. Now the Democrats have control of the chamber over the weekend former president Trump blamed the loss in the Senate on Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate. |
| 3:53.0 | By the way that comes as Trump is prepared to make his big announcement tomorrow night for president. It will be his third straight run 2016 2020 and now 2024 in blaming McConnell over the weekend. Trump said, |
