One thing has stayed the same over the years.

The stories of the playground.

I heard them from my children when they were growing up and I'm waiting for the stories

that are to come for my grandchildren now.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they hear the stories of the East Wing, but

more specifically, of Room 36.

Nobody knows if they're true, that's the thing.

Normally you can investigate a story by searching through old newspaper records or by asking

around, but in this case, you really only had one person that confirmed part of the story

to us.

An old Mrs. Sullivan passed away a long time ago.

I was still a kid when her obituary came out in the newspaper.

She knew most of the staff and a lot of the children in the school, and every once in a while

she would get some of us in trouble.

I was caught poking a dead bird with the stick once, when out of the blue one of the teachers

came running straight at me and made me wash my hands, threatening to call my parents.

As I was being hurried along, I saw Mrs. Sullivan looking right at me from the porch of her

house, shaking her finger from side to side.

We used to dare each other to cross the street and knock on Mrs. Sullivan's door too.

We could tell she didn't like it, and she knew we didn't like her either.

But I think your views about people change when you learn more about them.
