So I'm a 21-year-old female and I'm engaged to my fiance who's 25 years old.

We live within a 70-mile radius of almost my entire family. I have a

two-year-old Australian Shepherd named Heather who is the light of my life and has essentially

saved my life multiple times.

She is 50% blind, but this has never been a problem.

Last month, a family reunion was hosted at my house,

which my almost sister-in-law attended,

along with her husband and two children.

Her younger child, we'll call her Stacy, that's not her real name, is nine years old and extremely

intelligent.

Stacy is an A-plus student and never does anything stupid or without reason.

At the beginning of the event, Heather will leave my side and walk around sniffing everything

before settling back down close to me after about 10 to 30 minutes. Almost an hour had passed since I had

welcomed all my guests to this family reunion and Heather was still absent. I wouldn't

usually worry but since there were many children present I decided to look around.

I was completely appalled by what I found. I was wandering into the basement and was about to leave

when I heard a faint whimper. After a moment of tracking the sound I opened an airtight plastic

box to find Heather inside looking strangely tired meaning that she had been in there for a while.
