Good morning. It's Saturday, February the 7th, and we begin this hour with the rising tide

against Donald Trump's second term. We're in nine, we're nine months away from the nationwide

midterm elections and the first true test of Trump 2.0, but there's more and more proof from

the voting booth from special elections and off-year contests that points to a resistance that's not

only showing up as we've seen in the streets, but in the voting booth as well. In just the past week,

Democrats have scored remarkable victories in a pair of special elections, pointing to a base

that is enthusiastic and engaged

and might be growing. On Tuesday, the Democrat Eric Botcher easily won a New York State Senate race

to represent a district that encompasses a large portion of the west side of Manhattan. His victory

in a Democratic stronghold was not surprising, but the margin with which he won was stunning.

Botcher earned 92% of the total votes cast.

His Republican opponent barely managed to get 8%.

Now, let me just give you some perspective on this.

In 2024, Botcher's predecessor, also a Democrat, received 84% of the votes.

So Botcher ran up that margin by eight points.

Botcher's election came just a few days after another Democrat pulled off an even more shocking victory, 15,000 miles away in the suburbs of Fort Worth, Texas.

Last week, the 33-year-old Democrat, Taylor Rummet, a union leader, a machinist, and an Air Force veteran, was elected as the newest and youngest member of the Texas State Senate.

His victory is nothing short of incredible.

Remit is the first Democrat to hold that seat since 1991.

That's more than 35 years ago.
