It's Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. Is this the Democrats fail safe for November? A win for now against

Joe Biden is preparing to announce a sweeping executive action this week that would shield select illegal alien spouses of U.S. citizens from deportation and allow them to work legally in the country as they seek citizenship.

The policy would apply to people who have been living in the United States for 10 years and would utilize an existing legal authority known as parole in place that offers deportation

protections.

The election year efforts have long been sought, of course, by immigration advocates and

Democrats, and come after Biden earlier this month, took some steps,

that paper kitty we talked about, to limit asylum processing at the U.S. southern border.

This, of course, is all in an effort to register more voters for Democrats, especially in

an election year. This is basically signaling to all of the Democrats' machine at the local level that,

hey, wink, wink, nod. If they're not legal now, they will be legal in just a few years. So

why not just get them on the voter rolls right now? I'm wondering if this is the Democrats

failsafe for Joe Biden. Should he actually be their nominee come later this year? I'm wondering

if this is the fail safesafe that they need.

The Justice Department confirmed that Attorney General Merrick Garland is not going to face charges

after House Republicans voted to hold him in contempt of Congress for declining to provide

audio tapes of President Joe Biden that are, quote, unquote, protected by executive privilege.
