Good afternoon. It's Sunday, June 29th. I'm Charles Coleman, Jr., filling in for Ali Valshi.

Now, Senate clerks have been up all night taking turns reading all 940 pages of the one big beautiful bill Act out loud, and they're still going.

They've been at it for nearly 13 hours at this point, which was pretty much the goal.

It's a delay tactic prompted by minority leader Chuck Schumer that prevented the Senate from starting debate on the bill.

The bill would make Trump's 2017, sorry, 2017 tax cuts

permanent, and that would disproportionately benefit the wealthiest of Americans at the expense

of social net safety programs like Medicaid and SNAP that helped the most vulnerable

among us. And it would also give a huge boost of money and support to Homeland Security and to ICE

so that they can significantly ramp up their mass deportation efforts.

51 of the 53 Republicans in the Senate voted to bring the bill to the floor last night,

a key hurdle toward final passage.

The two GOP holdouts were Ram Paul of

Kentucky and Tom Tillis of North Carolina. Now for weeks, both senators have been saying that they

have deep reservations about the bill. This morning, the president published a post on

true social attacking both of them. Quote, Tom Tillis has hurt the great people of North Carolina.

Even on the catastrophic flooding, nothing was done to help until I took office.

Then a miracle took place.

Tillis is a talker and complainer, not a doer.

He's even worse than Fauci Paul.

For his part, Paul has been complaining about the debt that the United States will rack up as a result of this bill. And, well, he's got a point.

Overnight, the Joint Committee on Taxation estimated that the GOP mega bill will add $4.45

trillion dollars to the national debt over the next decade.
