We begin today with the breaking news that Nancy Pelosi is not running for re-election.

That is why I want you, my fellow San Franciscans, to be the first to know.

I will not be seeking re-election to Congress.

With a grateful heart, I look forward to my final year of service as you're a proud representative.

She's 85 years old. She is a classic San Francisco liberal, and most Republicans couldn't stand her, but had to acknowledge that she was very effective in terms of bringing her caucus together, in terms of fighting, whether she was speaker or minority leader for the things that Democrats believe in. I think that the hammer attack on her husband, Paul, took a lot out of her.

I suspected this might be the case because she hadn't said one way or another what she was going to do.

She made the announcement in a video and, you know, a remarkable congressional career that didn't begin until after she'd

had five children and was in her 40s.

So it's, this is a kind of closure there, I think, as the Democrats try to move on.

Remember, she said she only wanted one more term as Speaker and then, of course, stepped aside

for Hakeem Jeffries.

And, you know, she was as partisan as they come.

I mean, I remember her sitting behind Trump when he gave a joint address to Congress and then

ripping up the speech on camera.

She also played a key role in pushing Joe Biden out of the race.

Behind the scenes, she, you know, Biden, I think is still pissed off at her.

Thought he was too old to run and helped orchestrate things so that he had to give up his fantasy

that he could ask the voters for another

four years. So that's the news on Nancy Pelosi. I'm sure will be inundated with the pieces about her.

But look, in the history of the country, she remains the only woman to lead either chamber of Congress.
