| 0:34.0 | The government says that inflation rose 8.5% in March compared to last year. |
| 0:39.5 | They were predicting 8.4%, which was bad enough, but it's actually 8.5% on an annual basis |

| 0:49.9 | That is up from the annual rate of inflation last month, which was 7.9%, which was bad. |
| 0:56.0 | And 7.9% was the worst since 1981, and now 8.5% is also the worst since 1981. |

| 1:06.7 | Now there are a lot of stories behind the big number, the 8.5% number. |

| 1:47.7 | see how bad inflation is in those three basic areas, you can look and see what the rate |
| 1:53.0 | of inflation was in March and on an annual basis in a number of different economic areas. |
| 1:58.9 | So eating, start with eating, the price of food. |
