Fundamentalism in the Word of God, and he wrote it to defend his doctrine of scripture

against liberal attacks on it. Why should we commit ourselves to the Bible's authority?

and its vital role in shaping the church and the Christian life.

This biographical talk was given on a Wednesday evening at Bethlehem Baptist Church on March 13th, 1991.

Okay, well, where are we here? His call to the ministry, work at Oak Hill, back to Wycliffe

College to study for the ministry.

I got his doctoral degree in Richard Baxter, who's a Puritan, pastor, J.C. Ryle,

Bair of Truth. Oh, and then he finishes and he becomes the curate, that means assistant pastor,

for about three years in Birmingham, and he

discovers that's just probably not his calling to be a local church pastor. And so he becomes an

assistant professor at Tyndale Hall, Bristol, and in 1958, that was 55, in 1958 1958 he writes a book that that begins his career as a very

influential theologian namely the popular book fundamentalism and the word of God and I would like

to to get all these basic books of Packer and just keep them like when we have our new little bookstore down there in the commons outside the new sanctuary,

I think we ought to have a Packer shelf, you know, with about five basic texts that people can always get.
