How many times over the course of this season have we witnessed this Michigan men's basketball team absorb a lesson and apply it almost immediately?

We saw it within the course of a game last time out against UCLA when Michigan got dominated on the glass by 10 in the first half.

They were plus 11 after halftime.

This lesson that applied most of all on the road inside hostile Mackey Arena took a few

weeks to marinate because these types of situations don't come around very often.

Michigan went to East Lansing, Michigan State, and had a 16-point halftime lead.

Within the first seven minutes of the second half, Michigan State cut it to a possession.

In fact, Michigan State had a couple of leads in that second half before ultimately Michigan

went on to win the game by double digits.

Same margin took place on Tuesday after 20 minutes at Purdue.

Michigan was up by 16.

And similarly to the early stages of the second half at Breslin, Mackey Arena ignited at the first media timeout.

But Purdue had only made up two points.

Michigan ended up keeping Purdue at least away from them by eight points for the entire final 20 minutes of this game.

And Michigan did it with what does it need to be learned.

They've known it since they built this roster over the summer.

And that's incredible balance.

To have a ball club where everybody who played all nine scored at least three points in the first half

and six different players logged at least 10 points in the first half, and six different players

logged at least 10 points, but nobody more than 17. Michigan did it with dominance and with

balance. Purdue needed 27 from Trey Kaufman-Renn on 26 attempts. They needed 20 from Braden Smith,

all in the second half, and the nation's second best assist man,
