In the lead up to Michigan's first exhibition against Oakland down in Detroit at Little

0:04.1

Caesar's Arena, Dusty May and Greg Campy had a press conference, and during that,

0:08.8

Dusty was asked about the strengths and weaknesses of his team at that point, the middle of

0:13.9

October, and here's part of his answer.

0:16.4

As far as the things that are concerning, you never know how well you're going to rebound the ball and take care of it until you see someone else.

0:24.4

So I think those are probably the two things that keep a lot of us coaches up a night, just wondering until you've done it, you don't know.

0:32.7

But overall, we've just been pleased with how well our group has worked together.

Heading into Friday's matchup with TCU the fifth time we would get to see Michigan in public

0:42.7

against another opponent, two exhibitions, two regular season games.

Certainly those two facts, those two trends, how you rebound the basketball, how you take

0:52.7

care of the basketball, was of concern

0:54.9

from the fan base's perspective. So I asked Dusty in the pregame, where is this team right now

1:00.1

in that regard? Well, I hate to say, but what we forecasted, what we were worried about has come to

1:05.7

fruition. We haven't taken care of the basketball, we haven't rebounded it well. Almost every other

1:10.3

statistical category, we've held our own. I think we're top five or six in the country and e-field goal

1:15.1

percentage, which is quality shots making them and then offensive rebounding. We're top 60

1:20.2

out of 360, which we still think we have some room for growth there. And so turnovers negate both

1:25.4

of them. So we have to do a better job of making earlier decisions

1:28.0

we are playing faster than our guys have played before this this is probably part of the growth

1:33.2

process you'd like to be winning as you're growing and learning and so obviously it hurt us to

1:39.0

take a step back against wake and you know the the turnovers that we had down the stretch were

1:44.0

pivotal and then on the other side for us to be in the top 10 against Wake and, you know, the turnovers that we had down the stretch were pivotal.
