Summary

What separates a deep listener from a shallow one? Jayson breaks down why most people are not actually listening and how the lack of real curiosity shows up in conversations. He explains why follow up questions matter, what it means to ask real questions, and how losing curiosity in your relationship creates distance. He also challenges you to go deeper with the people in your life if you want real connection. If you want to become someone people feel truly heard by, this episode is for you.

And I get curious about what kind of person you are.

1:32.8

So, for example, I was at an event recently.

1:36.3

And recently in the last, let's say, four months.

1:42.1

And I have trained myself to have the ability to drill down with people kind of endlessly.

1:52.3

And I can turn that on or I can turn it off depending on how I feel.

2:00.2

And I observe.

2:02.6

I'm an observer of human beings and human behavior.

2:08.0

So I'm at this event, and I must have interacted with probably 30 people at this event.

2:14.0

And there was probably 75 people totally there.
