writer-podcaster friend Kate Bowler, about the best moments of 2025. This is part two of our

year-end, crappy, happy series. This week, we turn our attention to the happy.

Kate hosts the podcast, Everything Happens.

She teaches at Duke University and has a new book coming out in April called Joyful Anyway.

She's one of the most thoughtful people I know, and she has a way of balancing a clear-eyed view of the world with a

terrific ability to make a day worthwhile. Here's my conversation with Kate Bowler.

Okay, well, it's actually my very favorite episode of the year where one of my favorite people on

the planet

Kelly Corrigan and I decide to be concertedly embarrassingly unashamedably. That's not a word,

but it will be happy. It doesn't matter because we're so happy that it's fine.

This is our chance. Unashamedly happy. Yes. To take the shame out of it. Unashamably. Supposedly we're allowed to be happy. It's going to happen now. Hey, lovey. Thanks for doing this with me. I love that you call me Lovie. It reminds me my dad. Aw. That's what he called me. Aw. You and my dad. That's good company.

Yeah, really good company.

Last week we were as negative as we wanted to be because we were really unhappy.

Yeah, we were reviewing the crappies of the year, personal, professional, global.

But this week.

We like to do a kind of concentric rings of things.

The first is personal and the next professional.

And then in the world.

And then every now, if we have time, we'll do a zinger.

But we like to start with the inner most happy.

So I would love if you wanted to start us off.
