Summary

The Dedeaux Download podcast, part of the Peristyle Podcast family of shows, returns with the 2024 college baseball season barely a week away. Shotgun Spratling and Jack Smith return to preview USC baseball's offensive attack heading into the second year under head coach Andy Stankiewicz and hitting coach Travis Jewett.

The podcasting duo talk all things hitting with the position players taking center stage. They comb through the Trojans’ 2024 roster looking at what USC will have on the offensive side of the ball, going position by position to discuss the contenders to play for the Trojans this year. One thing became evident pretty quickly -- USC has a lot of pieces that can play multiple positions. That all comes after the always energetic and enthusiastic Travis Jewett joins the Dedeaux Download to talk about the unique challenges the Trojans have to face this season as relative roaming gypsies with no home field. USC's hitting coach and recruiting coordinator also discusses the hitters he’s excited about and how the positional versatility of the group options up a lot of possibilities for various lineups.

Among other players that are brought up, Jewett talks about the the impact Connecticut transfer Chris Brown could have as a middle-of-the-lineup power threat and how preseason All-American center fielder Austin Overn has continued to develop his game.
