It's the 80s all over. The Bob Geldof organized and produced the recording of Do They Know It's Christmas, kicking off a charitable effort to help relieve famine in Africa, while South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

It was the end of an era as Howard Gossal retired from Monday Night Football.

And Margaret Thatcher signed the Sino-British Joint Declaration, paving the way for Hong Kong to be returned to China's control in 1997. Rick Allen, better known as

the drummer for Def Leopard, lost his arm in a car crash while in New York, a guy named Bernie

Gets, decided that Charles Bronson movies were real life and shot four

muggers on a New York subway car. Shit was getting crazy as the year wound down in December of
