Coming up on Sword and Scale Daily, Joanne Cunningham, the mother of missing 5-year-old

AJ Freund has pleaded guilty to his murder.

AJ Freund was reported missing from his home in Crystal Lake, Illinois on April 18, 2019.

Suspected robbers fling a jewelry store in Coral Gables, Florida, hijacked a UPS van and

led police on a high-speed chase, which ended in a shootout that left for dead.

Finally, a banker stabbed his wife and two young children to death before turning the

knife on himself in New York.

On Thursday, December 5th, 36-year-old Joanne Cunningham entered a plea of guilty to the

first-degree murder of her son, AJ Freund, in McKinney County, Illinois.

The plea Cunningham entered is, quote, a blind plea, meaning it does not include an agreement

with the prosecution regarding sentencing.

However, the prosecution did drop the lower charges against Cunningham in exchange for

her guilty plea.

Five-year-old AJ Freund was reported missing by his father, 60-year-old Andrew Freund

Senior, on April 18, 2019.

According to an affidavit submitted by the McKinney County Sheriff's Department and obtained

by the Northwest Herald, police secured search warrants for the parent's cell phones,

and those phones yielded key evidence in the investigation.
