Hey, it's Antries, and welcome to the savvy painter podcast. You regular

listeners have noticed already I'm a day late on this actually a little bit more than

a day late technically.

I went down to San Diego to visit a friend of mine.

You might remember Donna Moritz from one of the episodes here

and she was in from Australia. and I thought I could finish this episode up while I was on the road and

turns out I was wrong about that so I am so sorry

It's Friday afternoon and I'm just getting this out. My guest today is

Deborah Hughes. Deborah is a Planair painter from Southern California. She lives in

Orange County where she has a studio and a gallery on Balboa Island.

Deborah's work has been featured in Art of the West and Plain Air magazine.

This year, her paintings will be exhibited in the Maui Place. and In this episode Deborah and I talk about what she teaches her students about

simplification and avoiding the overwhelm of complicated subjects. She talks

about how she started her own gallery and admitting what you're not good at

and delegating the rest. That's something I could definitely learn to do. We also

talk about the mistakes that artists make when dealing with a gallery and the many

plain air events that she participates in and how she uses that consistency to

move her work. So we're just going to jump right in. Here is Deborah Hughes.
