I. Welcome to ID the Future. I'm Andrew McDermott. Today we've got for you the first half of a panel discussion reviewing the recent debate between Rice University chemistry professor Dr James Tour and the University of Glasgow

Professor of Chemistry Dr Lee Cronin. In November 2023, Drs Tour and Cronin participated in a round table at Harvard University on the origin of life with a live audience of Harvard faculty and guests.

But even if you haven't seen the debate, you're still likely to find this review helpful

because it teases out a number of points from the debate with useful insight and a variety of perspectives.

The panel features three of our own, scientist and attorney Casey Luskin, physicist Brian Miller,

and Center for Science and Culture Senior Fellow Dr. Stephen Dilly.

It also features Arizona State University Professor of Philosophy Owen Anderson.

The discussion was recorded by the Kirkwood Center and hosted by Kirkwood President Anthony

Costello and Vice President Lenny Esposito.

From time to time, you'll also hear brief clips from the roundtable event

including Dr. Tours voice and Dr Cronin's voice. In the first half of this

discussion you'll get some helpful background on Dr. Tour and why he's

challenging origin of life researchers. The panel also discusses the difficulties

inherent in origin of life studies as well as the problems that arise from the models proposed by Lee

Cronin.

Towards the end of Part 1, the panelists talk about the process of natural selection.
