This is where Advent becomes very helpful for us because it's that season in the church calendar that teaches us

to prepare for the right thing. I think our preparation work of anything that we do when

we're preparing says a lot about what we're hoping for or what we're preparing

for. So at Christmas if you look at the preparation

it just means shopping and wearing ugly Christmas sweaters or something like

this because it's just all about a party and so our preparations are

consumeristic for a very consumeristic holiday.

But what Advent does is it sort of rescues us from that and it fixes our eyes back on Jesus

in his first and in his second coming preparing us by giving us Jesus as our hiding place

when the judgment arises.
