Well, in Queens for a cyclist in New York City, a pothole can sometimes be a real pain in the neck, especially for the victim of a peculiar

accident in Ridgewood.

Just before noon, the 41-year-old was peddling northwest in the bike lane on Woodward Avenue.

He crashed when he hit a pothole, hitting his head on the pavement.

He was unsteady when he stood up, and as he walked away,

stumbled on the sidewalk and fell again. This time he wasn't so lucky. The man fell hard,

on a waist-high fence, skewered his neck on one of the wrought iron finials.

At this point, he was forced to momentarily stop moving.

A witness said, he hit his head really hard.

Then in a daze he starts stumbling onto this fence.

He falls onto the fence and skewers his neck.

It went all the way through his neck.

It was the most gruesome, weird thing I've ever seen.

Of course it is. What if that was like the second?

Paramedics managed to extricate him. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Bad for the cyclist, but good for the paramedics. Beats given a fat guy CPR. You only have a story to tell.
