Well, years ago, my wife Donna bought me a book on famous last words.

The final word spoken by many famous people, and surprising number of them had to do with work.

It's interesting, P.T. Barnum, you know, of Barnum and Bailey Circus fame.

His last words were recorded,

so how were the receipts at Madison Square Garden?

George Edward Kelly, the playwright and director,

a consummate director to the end, said to his wife,

my dear, before you kiss me goodbye, fix your hair.

It's a mess.

General John Sedgwick,

commander of the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War,

was at the Battle of the Wilderness,

and he scoffed at his men as they began to duck from Confederate sniper fire.

And his last words were recorded,

Oh, they couldn't hit an elephant from this dis...

Senator Paul Wellstone was a senator who, by his own admission, got very little done

in his time in the Senate. And so when he was asked towards the end, what he wanted written on

his tombstone, he said, I want them to write. We don't know what he did, but he sure
