after it was written by Charles Perot, the father of the fairy tale.

Many iterations of this grizzly story about an aristocrat, a powerful nobleman

feared for his cruelty, have been written since.

This man's unsightly blue beard is the source of his name and the story.

This nobleman was married several times, but no one knows what became of his many wives.

Mysteriously, they all disappeared.

Though blue beard wishes to wed one of the two beautiful daughters of his widow neighbor,

neither will agree. He was much older than them, and they feared the man and his ugly facial hair.

After attending an extravagant banquet party at the extraordinarily wealthy man's home,

however, the youngest daughter changes her mind. The allure of a life of riches and luxury

is too powerful for her to resist. Bluebeard and the young woman are promptly married after she agrees.
