Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast, where I help you to know God and to make him known.

0:12.1

Have you ever waited on God to move and wondered if he even ever heard your prayer? I think many of us have found ourselves in that place. I know for me,

0:24.9

especially when I've been praying for somebody to be healed and that healing, I don't see

0:30.0

evidence of it right away. It can feel, especially if that person is close to me, it can feel like,

0:35.0

man, Lord, are you even hearing these prayers? Because I have

0:38.3

seen some people healed immediately. The realities is sometimes people aren't healed until they get to

0:45.0

the other side of heaven. But I think when we're in the middle of those situations, it's normal for

0:51.1

us to wonder, did I get this wrong? Especially for waiting on a promise of God,

0:56.3

did he hear me? Did I mishear him? What's going on? Well, that's pretty much the scene that we're

1:02.8

stepping into today in John chapter 11. This is the story of Lazarus and his sisters, Mary and Martha,

1:10.2

and they are desperate. They send word to Jesus that

1:13.8

he is basically, Lazarus is on his deathbed, and they know that Jesus is a healer. They know that

1:20.4

he's the Messiah. They know that he's the resurrection. And so in their mind, they just need to get

1:25.9

this message to Jesus, and he's going to come, and he's going to heal Lazarus.

1:31.4

But that's not exactly how the story goes.

1:34.9

As we walk through John chapter 11 today, I want you to notice something.

1:39.6

This story isn't necessarily just about Lazarus.

1:45.0

It's about you and me, and it's about those moments that we encounter Jesus

1:49.4

when everything around us feels out of control,

1:52.7

and we may be grieving or we feel like Jesus didn't show up on time.

1:58.6

And so my hope is that by the end of this episode, I want you to know something

2:03.4

about God's timing. There's often meaning in the timing that God has for us. And of course,
