Avid Disney Park goers will be familiar with the Matterhorn, Disney's first roller coaster attraction, and the very first

tubular steel coaster in the world. It's modeled after the mountain of the same name,

located in the Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy, and the ride sends passengers

hurtling at high speeds in bobsled-shaped cars through the snowy mountain pass, as they allude the abominable

snowman. Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you it's very fun, kind of old, and one of the

iconic rides that comes to mind when thinking of Disneyland. I can't speak from experience, as I've

never been to Disneyland, but the Matterhorn made its debut on June 14th, 1959. Five years later,

in May 1964, it was nearing midnight and a 15-year-old Mark Maples, a local, was at the park

for a fun summer night. He boarded the coaster alongside his two brothers, taking the middle seat. From there,

no one knows exactly what happened. The details are a bit cloudy. There's speculation that either
