Summary

One of my wonderful listeners wrote me to request this week's show and seeing as it is from the same great year for Dead music as the recently released Three from the Vault, I thought it would be a great listen for this week's deadpod. While I only have a portion of the show in good quality soundboard, I thought it was certainly worth sharing what I have. This show features a monster first set Dark Star as well as one of the all time great Not Fade Away->Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad->Not Fade Away jams.

0:06.8	Tonight I'm going to bring you a show that was prompted by a listener request,
0:12.0	but it's also a nod to the recent release of the wonderful
0:15.8	Three from the Vault CD and I recommend that you pick that one up if you don't have it
0:19.6	yet in that this show too is from that great year of 1971.
0:25.0	Tonight show though comes to us from November the 15th
0:28.0	1971 Municipal Auditorium Austin, Texas.
0:31.0	This whole show doesn't exist in excellent soundboard quality.
0:36.0	What I'm going to bring you tonight is most of what does.
0:39.0	It starts with a very unusual first set Darkstar.
0:42.0	And check out the great jam in this one especially
0:45.0	Keith's wonderful piano work but then following the Dark Star is a major
0:51.0	surprise some even called an outrage I'll let you find out for that
0:54.5	about that on your own and draw your own conclusions I rather like it a great jam and
0:59.0	then Casey Jones then we're going to go into some of the second set. Most of this people don't listen
1:07.0	to as often, although the end of the second set contains one of the all-time great jams. There's a really nice
1:15.0	Ramble on Rose, a great Broke Down Palace, Bobby McGee, Cumberland Blues, and
1:22.0	then a really fine coming up a couple songs after that, a exemplary
1:27.4	jam between not fade away and going down the road feeling bad.
1:30.9	I think it's really wonderful, and I think you'll enjoy it.
