Summary

A fine second set awaits you on this week's Deadpod as we explore the second set from the band's performance at the Cumberland Coutny civic Center in Portland Maine on September 17, 1982.

This is a matrix recording - but the first two songs are a mix of several audience sources as the soundboard for those doesn't seem to exist.. 'Touch of Grey' and 'Man Smart, Woman Smarter' are played uptempo and crisply..Their followed by a beautiful rendition of 'High Time'; Jerry's emotive vocals just hint at how expressive this set will be.

'Estimated' follows, then a delicate 'Eyes of the World'. Following drums and space Weir teases a Spanish Jam but they eventual let Phil take the helm and lead them into the powerful 'Other One' intro.. the crowd loves it and when they finish and go into 'Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad' there is a fair amount of sing along..

The highlight of the set in my opinion is the tremendous version of 'Morning Dew' that follows.. Jerry is at his most expressive here.. words won't do it justice.

A fine 'Sugar Magnolia' closes the set and a 'US Blues' encore caps the evening...

0:20.4	It's a Matrix recording, both Soundboard and audience. The first two songs

0:29.4	into Man Smart Women Smarter. Both smartly played. nice tempo on each I think you'll enjoy it
0:35.1	high time comes next and Garcia is very emotive here I think he does a great fine job on this
0:41.2	too and it's one of the better versions I've heard.
0:43.0	Estimated Follows, Weir is in fine form here.
0:47.0	You'll hear it as he goes in. That drops into a beautiful eyes of the world.
0:51.0	Drums in space follows out of space.
0:54.6	Les really takes control, teases the other one.
0:57.6	There's some Spanish jam teases going on, but Lesch steers the band into a great other
1:01.8	one here and drops some fine bombs.
1:05.0	The crowd really appreciates it.
1:06.7	They do it going down the road feeling bad.
1:08.5	Then Jerry does a wonderful morning do.
1:12.6	I don't understand how it could be much better.
1:14.2	It was really well sung.
