Summary

This week we return to Deer Creek for the second set of the band's performance on June 9, 1991.

This second set opens with a scorching Scarlet>Fire.. the boys put it together here, with Jerry adding some nice flute-like touches and Hornsby pulling out the squeezebox during Fire.. one of the best of the year for sure. 'Truckin' follows, with an excellent closing jam into 'New Speedway Boogie' which had recently come out of retirement. Out of Space there is an excellent 'I Need A Miracle' which goes into a wonderful 'Standing on the Moon'. Jerry is wailing on the closing 'I'd rather be with you! ' and is obviously enjoying himself. The band puts it together for a rousing 'Sugar Magnolia' to close the set. 'The Weight' slows things down as they say good bye to Indiana for another year...

0:00.0	Hello and welcome to Dead Pad for the June 9th, 2023. This professor I'm so glad you could
0:04.6	pick up this week. This week we're going to continue with the band's performance at the
0:08.8	Deer Creek Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana on June 7th, 1991. This week we're going to play the
0:15.2	second set which starts out with a scorching scarlet fire. Some great jam and going on here. Jerry
0:21.6	throws out a lot of those midi licks that he was playing with at this time. Sort of a flute
0:27.6	like sound. And Hornsby does some squeeze box during the fire, but all in all an excellent
0:33.6	scarlet fire. One of the better ones of that year. Trucking follows with some nice jamming through it.
0:42.8	The jam following it in particular is quite good. After that they go into a new Speedway Boogie,
0:48.7	which was a breakout during that year and nice to hear. Drums and Space follows. A hot,
0:54.4	I need a miracle comes out of space. Then probably the highlight for me in the set or one
0:59.5	of the highlights is a great standing on the moon. Jerry really wails on this especially at the
1:04.2	ending. Rather be with you vocals and I think you'll find it quite satisfying. They close the set
1:11.8	with a real rock and sugar magnolia. All the bands together on this which is really good. It's
1:17.3	good rocker and they slow things down with the weight as an encore but always a favorite of mine.
