Summary

This week's Deadpod is from a marvelous sounding tape (with one or two issues) from the Spring of 1971. This set has Phil all over it - I especially love his sound on 'Bertha'. Pigpen does a wonderful 'Next Time You See Me', and 'Hard to Handle' (although it has a very tragic tape flip that loses the end of the song). The boys are tight and their playing is crackling with energy.

No jazzy spacy jams here, but plenty of electric, down and dirty rock and roll. Set 2 comes up next week and you don't want to miss it..

0:06.3	up this week. I decided to bring you a really outstanding recording from the spring of 1971
0:14.0	this week. This one comes to us from the Pittsburgh Civic Arena in Pittsburgh PA April 12th, 1971.
0:20.8	The first, I mean, it has a couple of problems, including the beginning, the opening song,
0:25.4	Cold Rain and Snow. It has some issues there, so it's going to cut into that song. But outstanding
0:32.8	throughout me and my uncle follows, really beautifully played Bertha. Next time you see me with
0:38.6	the pig pen, playing in the band, loser, a great cumberland blues, hard to handle. Again, here we
0:44.6	got a real, it looks like a real flip and the end of the song is tragically lost. Following that,
0:52.8	a good, nice, greatest story I ever told into a wild Johnny Be Good, really beautifully done.
