Summary

This week we feature a great set from April of 1971 - 4/12/71 from Pittsburgh PA.

Again, this is a sweet recording only one or two minor flaws. 'Truckin' starts us off hot, with some nice jamming punctuated by Billy K pounding the kit as they lead into a 10 minute 'Other One'. Of particular note here is the transition into 'Wharf Rat'.

'Me & Bobby McGee' is nicely done but marred at the end by an unfortunate tape flip. 'Casey Jones' and 'Sugar Magnolia' benefit from their placement here in the middle of the set.

The ending here is classic 1971 Dead, with the closing 'Lovelight' bringing the return of Pigpen to the stage to lead us home.

I hope you enjoy this, one of the best shows of April 1971.

0:08.4	This week we're going to bring you the second set of the band's performance at the Pittsburgh
0:11.7	Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 12th, 1971.
0:15.2	It's quite a great set, I think.
0:18.2	Starts out with a wonderful truck and lots of hot jam in here.
0:21.9	Goes into some great Billy Croytsman drums and then into about a 10 minute other one.
0:27.6	Very powerful, well played and the band's firing on all cylinders here, especially a nice
0:33.4	transition into Warfrat, Warfrat's nice and quite good.
0:39.1	And then they bring great me and Bobby McGee, which is marred, unfortunately, by a tape
0:43.4	flip right at the end.
0:45.0	Casey Johns follows and they play this very well, I think.
0:48.4	Sugar Magnolia, I think both these songs were helped by the fact that they're being
0:56.2	played in the middle of the set rather than at the end.
0:59.4	The band was really able to stretch down a little bit and take their time.
1:02.8	The closing is really the highlight of this, there's a hot deal and they're not fade away
1:06.8	into going down the road, feeling bad, into.
1:09.7	Pigpen takes us home with a great turn on your love light.
1:12.5	I think you'll enjoy this one, lots of great jam in here.
1:15.4	The band is young and powerful and I think you'll hear that throughout and enjoy.
