Summary

It won't be long before Mardi Gras is here so I decided to bring you one of the better Mardi Gras shows the band performed in their later years. This is from February 23rd, 1993 at Oakland California. Part of me wanted to only play the second set, which features an excellent collaboration with Ornette Coleman, however the completest in me demanded the entire show, so this week I'm featuring set 1, which contains some nice highlights as well as the premier of Phil Lesh's version of 'Broken Arrow'. I quite enjoy Garcia's solo in Loser as well, and the unusual 'Johnny B. Goode' set closer.

I decided to also include in this week's Deadpod part of a wonderful set by Joe Russo's Almost Dead. This comes from their performance on 12/30/16 at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester NY. They simply tear up this Viola Lee Blues .. I hope you enjoy it!!!

0:07.0	This week is, we're closing into Marty Gross, so I decided that it was time to bring you one of the more memorable Marty Grouse shows that that happened in the

0:16.8	This came to us from February 23, 1993 at the Oakland County Coliseum Arena in Oakland, California.
0:24.0	We're going to hear the set one this week with a little bonus music thrown in at the end.

0:31.5	Ornet and Prime Time opened the show so the band, so the crowd was jazzed for that kind of
0:36.9	a night and they got their fill of it for sure.
0:40.4	First set however straight ahead dead, cold rain and snow starts, great fill,
0:45.0	Lesh on that one, Wang dang, doodlefowls, loser with a great solo by Jerry,
0:50.0	probably the highlight of the first set, or one of the highlights of Set One Follows.
0:55.4	Then we're stuck inside of Mobile with Memphis Blues again.
0:59.2	Phil does a premiere of a song that many of us came to really enjoy in the latter couple years of the band.
1:05.1	This is the first performance of Broken Arrow.
1:07.9	That follows with one of Vince's tunes that we all probably got a little tired of by
1:12.2	the end. Way to go home. The band closes with an unusual
1:16.6	choice selection for the end of set one. Johnny be good. We're going to follow that up with a really nice performance of a couple of tunes from Joe Russo's almost dead.
