I think anytime I come across an excellent sounding tape from 1970 it is a real treat. There are so few great tapes from that year and the band is having so much fun that when I do I want to share. So this week here is one from the Fillmore East on November 16, 1970.
There are some anomalies - there is some Elton John music playing through the house PA at one point - don't freak out ! :) I had to leave it in just to keep the atmosphere of the venue and the date.
I love hearing Pigpen here as well as the energy which just explodes through this music.

| 0:34.9 | Then we get Casey Jones, me and my uncle, then it breaks into this weird house PA music. |
| 0:40.4 | Okay, so don't be surprised when you hear Elton John doing honky-tonk women. |
| 0:44.5 | It's the house PA goes on for a couple of minutes. |
| 0:48.0 | Then we go into friend of the devil, cold rants, no great king bee, China rider, really nice, done nicely done. |
| 0:56.1 | A little bit of talk, Steve Winwood gets on stage, they do hard to handle. |
| 1:00.9 | Big railroad blues, not fade away and to go down the road feeling bad back into not fade away with Steve Winwood on Pigpen's organ. |
| 1:10.7 | Then the rest of the show, we have a little stage talk. |
| 1:14.8 | Bobby does the frozen logger song. |
| 1:16.6 | We got mama tried, then we get a trucking into the other one into Uncle John's bed, |
| 1:21.2 | really nicely, nice sound on this one for a 1970 tape. |
| 1:24.9 | There's so few sound boards available from that year, and the band is so much fun to listen to that I had to bring this one to you this week. |
| 1:33.4 | There's a few anomalies, of course, it's a long, it's an old tape, so you're going to get those. |
