Summary

This week we have a 'rare and different' tune indeed. The second set from the band's performance in Cleveland begins unlike any other in the band's storied history. They come out and drop into a free-form, unique jam that winds it way through any number of modes, but is sure to take you with it if you allow it to. A short 'Drums' kicks in once the jam reaches a high point, but then they return to the jam until eventually moving into a slow but heartfelt 'JackARoe'. A energized 'Playin' In the Band' follows, one that is full of Phil bombs and lots of deep jazzy modes which reminds the listener of a version from 1972. They move into a funky and fun 'Shakedown Street' then drop into the third and final performance of 'If I Had The World To Give'. Here Garcia is intimate and heartfelt, and one wishes we could have had this tune more often in their rotation. They slowly move back into the 'Playin' reprise, building up the energy until they slide into the set closing 'Around and Around'. A short, but beautiful set - I hope you dig it!

0:06.8	This week we really are indeed going to be bringing you a rare and different tune.
0:10.9	The second set from the band's performance at the Cleveland Music Hall in Cleveland, Ohio,
0:16.0	on November 20th, 1978.
0:19.9	This one is quite unique in that they opened the set with a really interesting
0:26.5	and deep jam. They don't start out with a song. They go right into a jam.
0:31.9	The jam goes all over the place. There's some great Jerry stuff in there and some great Phil stuff
0:37.8	and that goes into a nice drumming section back into a jam.
0:42.8	Enjoy it. I think it's really unique that they start a second set this way.
0:47.1	I have seen it written that it what they started with this jam because Bobby was sick.
0:52.7	I don't know that that was true. I do know that it's very interesting.
0:56.4	Goes into a slow jack of row and then another spacey play in in the band.
1:01.2	Really, absolutely done. Some deep jazzy influences there.
1:06.7	Into a funky shake down street. This one is really good. It's very funky.
1:10.8	And it goes into the third and final performance of if I had the world to give.
1:15.0	And it sort of gives the audience a chance to breathe.
1:18.3	Jerry's it provides a very intimate reading of this song.
1:22.4	And it's one of my favorites. I think you'll enjoy it.
1:24.8	Goes back into a play in in the band. Reprise and then they end the set with a nice fast
1:31.4	around and around. No encore? Still a great second set. I think you'll enjoy it.
