Summary

This week's Deadpod features the second set from the band's performance at the Charlotte Coliseum in
Charlotte, NC on October 10, 1989.

A good example, I think, of why this was a high water mark in the band's performance history, this second set showcases their ability to improvise both in spots intended and unintended.

The latter I think, is shown in the opening 'Blow Away', which despite some forgotten lyrics and miscues turns into a fine opening number. The jamming in the 'Help>Slip>Frank', especially out of Franklins' and into a fine drums, is an example of some more expected, but nevertheless, successful creativity.

Lastly I have to point out how good 'Not Fade Away is here.. far from being mailed in...

0:08.0	Comes to us from the Charlotte Calosseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
0:12.0	October 22nd, 1989, it was a Sunday show,
0:16.0	which gives us a hint that it's a good one.
0:18.0	It starts out with an interesting blowaway.
0:20.0	Brent does forget some lyrics here as a little bit spongy at times but nevertheless he pulls it out at the end.
0:27.0	Sampson and Delilah follows, nice high energy tune as always, and then the highlight of the set is a help slip frank that follows really nicely done, especially the jam out of help.
0:36.0	The jam into slipknot, slipknot of course. And then the jam out of Franklin's tower is quite interesting. It's got some dark star sounding stuff in there.
0:44.8	There's some mitty work in there.
0:46.6	It goes into drums in space.
0:48.5	Neater miracle comes out of that into Stella Blues,
0:51.3	throwing stones, and then a really fine version of not fade away closes the set.
0:55.9	Worth listening to.
0:57.3	Better than average, I think you'll enjoy it.
0:59.9	The encore too, a Black Money River is done quite well.
