Summary

This week's Deadpod comes as the result of a request by a friend .. some say the highlight of this show is the opener, I wouldn't go that far but it is a surprise, even for a Sunday! The 'Samson & Delilah' opener only happened a couple of times in the band's history but I think the rest of this set is quite entertaining as well. From April 10th, 1983 in Morgantown West Virginia.. I found the interplay between Garcia and Brent Mydland to be very entertaining here (Brent is certainly up a bit in the mix on this tape). 'Tennessee Jed' is a highlight here for me, as is a slow 'Friend of the Devil' that includes some nice surprises from Jerry.

0:27.6

They open with Sampson and Delilah.

0:29.8

Not unusual choice for the date, for the day of the week but certainly an opener

0:33.0

it had only been open been an opener one other time and I think it was only an

0:37.6

opener one other time after this so three times altogether this is one of

0:41.0

them where Samson and Delalila opened the show.

0:44.3

It's a very nice version.

0:45.8

Goes into front of the devil.

0:46.8

It's a little bit slower, but Jerry's got some great licks in here.

0:49.8

I think throughout you'll hear on this recording at least. Brent quite high in the mix sounds really good and

0:56.3

Jerry does some really fine guitar work throughout. After front of the devil we get we're with me and my uncle in Mexicali Blues.

1:04.4

A nice Althea follows, Little Red Rooster.

1:06.8

One of the better versions of that.

1:08.4

Tennessee Jed fellows and this is quite, I think Jerry's quite animated in this one.

There's a little story about the West Virginia State Police
