as threats of violence in this country grow even louder.

It has been exactly 10 years since the heart of gun violence changed a small Connecticut

town forever.

The lives of 20 children and six adults all ended by a gunman who opened fire with an assault

weapon at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

Tonight, the White House is lit green to remember those killed along with their families

and the survivors.

The attack at the time seemed unthinkable and many assumed the result would be much

stronger gun safety laws.

Yet over the past decade, mass shootings have become all too common and DC News has track

shootings since 2013 and found 54 involving active shooters which have killed 101 and injured

156 people.
