and also wanted to take you guys on a little journey through a word study. Hey, welcome to day five.

This is another amazing subject. It's called running. Running the race. When I first got saved,

I was so excited that I just believed that I was forgiven.

And I, you know, I had 22 years of addiction and all the anger and all the hatred. And God just

went and cleaned the inside of this cup. And so up at Teen Challenge, when I first got saved,

I was so like, yes, screaming and just excited because God forgave me. He forgave it and he forgot it, which enabled me to run. But I had people come up to me and say, listen, this is a marathon, not a sprint. And what they were saying is that we need to pace ourselves so that we can run the race and make sure that we finish the race. I get it. The problem is

is that in scripture you'll neither find whether it's a marathon or a sprint. What they're saying is we

don't want you to go off track and I agree and without grace we can't run the race. It says this in Hebrews 12.

1, therefore since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside

every encumbrance and a sin that so easily entangles us.

Let us run with endurance, the race that's set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author

and perfector of faith, for the joy set before him, he endured the cross, despising the

shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. And again in Isaiah 40, verse 31, it says,

Let those who wait for the Lord, they'll gain and they'll renew their strength.

It says they will mount up with wings like eagles,

and they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.

All of this, this is prophesying. Great Cloud of Witnesses

are all those men and women that have gone before us and pressed in, but they saw something

they couldn't have. They pressed in because they saw what we were going to get that they

couldn't have. They pressed in for us. And that is the reality of having our insides clean so that we can

run well.
